City Tour Colonial and Modern Lima + Archaeological Museum

ITINERARY
 

This excursion offers the best combination of the differents attractions in Lima and its three historical periods: pre-hispanic, colonial and contemporary.In Lima, there were several different pre-columbian cultures which are dated thousands of years back. Lima was part of the Inca Empire until was founded by the spaniard Francisco Pizarro on the 18th. of January, 1535. During our guided tour we will travel along its millenary history.

CONTEMPORARY LIMA. We begin our tour in the modern suburbs of San Isidro and Miraflores. We will go past the Financial Center, Huallamarca´s Pre-Inca Pyramidal Temple, the San Isidro´s Golf, the Olive Grove Park and Malecón de la Reserva (Miraflores Boardwalk). From this place we will have a nice view to the Pacific Ocean.

ANCESTRAL LIMA. Tour the Huaca Pucllana, religious and administrative center of the Lima Culture, constructed from 200 A.C. to 700 A.C. This sacred town has survived the expansion of modern civilization; even though a big part of it has been covered up by buildings and roads.
Also we will visit the PERUVIAN NATIONAL MUSEUM OF ARCHAEOLOGY, ANTHROPOLOGY AND HISTORY. This is the oldest and most important peruvian museum. It exhibits the biggest collection of pre-hispanic objects (ceramic, metal, textiles), that evidences all ancient cultures in a chronological and didactic way up to the Inca times.

COLONIAL LIMA. We will see Lima´s historic downtown which has been classified by Unesco as a Cultural Heritage of Humankind in 1991. In this journey we will admire what once was the Spanish Colony Center back in the 16th century. We will see the San Martín Square, its beautiful wooden carved balconies and old colonial houses, the Main Square, the President´s Palace, the Cathedral, the Archbishop´s Palace, the City Hall, the Desamparados Train Station, the San Francisco Convent, The Torre Tagle Palace, among other landmarks.
