SALKANTAY - MACHU PICCHU

ITINERARY
 

Day 1: Cusco /  Soraypampa  (+ / - 6 hours of trek)

Early in the morning, at 4.30am pick up from your hotel in Cusco. We left from the city of the Cusco and passing by the villages of Izcuchaca and Limatambo we will arrive at Mollepata (8.30am. Approximately) here we’ll have a little breakfast to initiate our long walk of the First day with the support personnel. We serve the lunch in the denominated sector Silca Field and after that after three hours of long walk we will arrive at our First camping SORAYPAMPA.

Day 2: Soraypampa / Huayracmachay   (+ / - 7 hours of trek)

After a good breakfast we prepared ourselves to undertake the longest and more difficult Trek of the trip, leaving by7am. We cross the denominated site Salkantay Pampas, and follow towards the left side of the snowed UMANTAY that is next to the snowed one of SALKANTAY, by 12m we will be in the high point (next to Salkantay & Umantay about 4500 masl). In this site we observed the snowed glaciers of Salkantay and for a better view of the snow avalanches. After one hour more or less we have lunch, them after two hours arrive to the denominated place HUAYRAC where we install the second camping.

Day 3: Huayracmachay / Lluskamayo   (+ / - 6 hours of trek)

This day will be unforgettable because throughout the Trek we will see a great variety of flora and fauna, starting off at HUAYRAC passing through the ARRANNIYUC community and continued descending towards the forest eyebrow, where we will appreciate the thermal water formation in a small valley, soon to follow the course of the river Santa Teresa, observing in this section diverse varieties of orchids and water falls of great magnitude. Finally we arrived at our camping in the denominated site LLUSKAMAYU (5pm. Approx.) Supper and spends the night there.

Day 4: Lluskamayo / Aguas Calientes  (+ / - 7 hours of trek)

The departure is programmed to about 07:45 a.m. Until noon in a long walk by forest eyebrow appreciating great variety of coffee cultures, fruit trees, bananas, avocados trees, and most interesting it is to see some crop of Coca leaf, sacred at time of the Incas and that is cultivated at the moment only in tropical zones like this, soon we’ll arrive at SAHUAYACO where begins the dirt trail until the lunch point.  After some hours of Trek we found the citadel of MACHU PICCHU from an unusual angle and we will stop for about one hour.  Descending until the hydroelectric where we will reach the train that takes us towards the station of the Ruins Bridge where we will have a night accommodation in a hotel in Aguas Calientes. Dinner in a local Restaurant.

Day 5: Machu Picchu / Cusco   (+ / - 7 hours of trek)

Soon after breakfast we dedicated the day to the visit of the Historical Sanctuary of MACHU PICCHU with a bilingual guide. Buffet Lunch in a Restaurant in Aguas Calientes. In the evening, at 4pm, immediately after lunch return to the city of the Cusco in train Backpacker and transfer to your hotel in Cusco.

- Use comfortable shoes the whole time during walking tours.
- Take lots of liquids during long excursions.
